The care home would provide 'high quality care for the elderly' including end of life, nursing and dementia care, across a ground floor of 30 bedrooms, first floor of 31 bedrooms and second floor of nine bedrooms. All 70 bedrooms will be ensuites.

On entering the home, a lobby, reception and cafe will overlook landscaped gardens.

The applicant states that the facilities will 'ensure residents can access the care that they need' but also have 'a variety of environments and experiences to ensure that residents are able to lead a varied and enjoyable life'.

64 direct staff are likely to be recruited for shift work at the home, and staff facilities will be included.

The site has an existing access point along Salisbury Road (A338) which will be blocked up and relocated further to the north to ensure suitable visibility for approaching vehicles. No highway changes have been stated in the proposal.

Cars will be able to park across 23 parking spaces, including two disabled spaces, and a separate ambulance bay will be located at the front of the building. 10 bike spaces are proposed to be included in a covered cycle store.

Visually, the building would be made with red brick and timber effect cladding.

Applicant Frontier Estates has built care homes across the UK including in Southampton, Chichester and Watford, but has also build student accommodation, offices and industrial buildings.
