Crews from Eastleigh, Fordingbridge, Ringwood, Dorset and Wiltshire all responded.

They used plant machinery to turn over the burning waste as they battled the fire.

Firefighters also communicated with residents to update and reassure them.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

At 9am today, a fire service spokesperson said: "We are still onsite, but with a reduced presence.

"Crews are damping down to reduce the spread of the fire.

"We anticipate that crews remain onsite for most of the day."
