UPDATES plans have been submitted for 67 new homes on Wilton Hill.

Proposed houses include six one-bedroom apartments, 28 two -bedroom apartments, two two-bedroom homes, 22 three-bedroom homes and nine four-bedroom homes.

The applicants compromise Our Wilton Community Interest Company (CIC); Our Wilton Trust; Our Enterprise and developer Redrow Homes Ltd.

The development will not include affordable housing, but 15 veterans’ flats would be made as part of the ‘innovation hub’, alongside offices.

In the cover letter, the applicant has said: “The only way the scheme becomes viable and provides a policy compliant level of affordable housing is if the Innovation Hub and veterans flats are removed.

“As you have acknowledged, the applicants do not want to remove these elements from the scheme and the local community need it to be provided.”

177 parking spaces would be created, with no allocated visitor parking.

Wiltshire Council assessed the site, located on the former Erdskine Barracks, at the time of the first development, confirming that 450 dwellings could be built in the space. 362 have already been built, so the final 67 would bring the number to 429.

Plans were first proposed in 2021 but have since been amended several times. This updated proposal must be decided by Wiltshire Council by October 12.
