Five Rivers Indoor Bowls Club has revamped its building with mural ahead of its open days.

Fred Fieber, 64, a local commercial artist, has added to his art collection with his mural on Tollgate Road over the summer.

After signing a new lease, the treasurer of the club, Diane Makepeace, contacted Fred for ideas to improve the building.

Fred wanted to make the art bright and eye-catching.

He took inspiration from the bowling green for the piece, and said: “One end (of the building) is the bowling and the other is the snooker so they wanted to delineate where the line is, I wanted to contrast each side but keep the green, and the palette developed by what looked good against the green.”

With the weather intervening while painting, Fred completed the mural alone in six weeks after the wall had been prepped.

This is not the first mural Fred has painted, his work stretches across Salisbury with Milford Street's bridge being completed in 2011, and Millstream Coach Park toilets in 2023.

It is hoped the new look of the club will improve the landscape of the area and increase membership with the mural attracting a lot of positive comments already.

The Bowls club look forward to welcoming residents to its open days on September 27 and 28.
