A council committee meeting will discuss Salisbury City Hall and gas works in the city, in addition to other issues, tonight.
The Salisbury Area Board is due to give an update on the City Hall, and Gas Network, as well as an update from Chief Constable Catherine Roper.
The area board will also outline its priority areas for the remainder of 2024 and 2025, its remaining budget, and further updates will also be heard concerning matters from Community First, to the FACT Family Help Project.
The Council's most recent update to City Hall came in May, when Wiltshire Council announced they had tasked estate agent Savills to market City Hall on our behalf on a long lease to 'prospective organisations.'
Speaking to the Journal earlier this year, Councillor Richard Clewer, leader of Wiltshire Council, said: "The market provider will support us to identify suitable organisations who are best placed to enter a lease in excess of 25 years, with a stipulation that the venue remains as an entertainment venue.
"If an operator is appointed as a result of this process, we would retain overall ownership of the venue."
The Councillor continued: "Our sole focus is to secure an appropriate external operator who will reopen and manage City Hall on our behalf as a thriving entertainment venue that complements our long-term vision for the city.”
