Staff were described as “compassionate, understanding and consistently delivering very good care” and the report found that staff “promoted” people’s dignity and are “respectful” in their approaches. One relative said that the staff’s help had “exceeded our expectations”.

The report found that people were able to maintain their independence, while having the support of staff who are “always there”.

Staff were also commended in the report with their ability to make time to chat to families and residents, with staff “always on hand if we have any questions”, as one relative said.

Registered manager Mrs Antoinette Mary Roberts is described by staff as “supportive” and “lovely”, working “well” with the management team to run the home.

The report states that people’s rooms are “spacious” with en-suites, and some with direct access to the gardens. Residents are given transport to dentist and hospital visits via a dedicated minibus and also offered the choice of services to come to the home instead.

At the time of the assessment, there was no ongoing end of life care being given to any person, but it was confirmed that the home has a palliative care policy. The report found that family members had previously “praised staff” for end of life care delivery and that staff “felt they had the training” need to carry out palliative care “confidently”.
