Salisbury Cathedral will be hosting an event next month where people will able to 'reach for the stars.'

On Saturday, October 5, Salisbury Cathedral is hosting their Planetarium Discovery Day, which welcomes families to 'explore our Earth and the planets and stars' with a fun-filled activities.

Inside the Cathedral, the inflatable six-metre Mobile Planetarium, a state-of-the-art dome experience, will screen the short film We Are Guardians.

The film is a full dome show which uses satellites to look at links between human activities and climate change.

Sarum Lights is returning to Salisbury Cathedral this November (Image: Salisbury Cathedral) Included in general admission to the Cathedral, visitors can explore the current art exhibition Our Earth, which focuses on climate change and the environment.

There will also be craft making and a scavenger hunt around the Cathedral, plus a special book on Astronomy from the Cathedral’s 15th century library will be on display.

Legendary composer Gustav Holst's The Planets, will be played on the famous Willis Organ by Salisbury Cathedral Assistant Director of Music John Challenger.

Shows inside the Planetarium dome will run every hour from 9.30 on Saturday 5 October.
