A DRIVER has been hospitalised following a three-car crash on a main road into Salisbury.
Emergency services were called to an incident on Wilton Road, A36, just after 12 noon on Friday, September 13.
Sasha Stagg, who lives nearby, said she saw one driver hit a car before they ploughed into a pillar outside her house.
The second car then reportedly crashed into another car, resulting in three vehicles being damaged.
Sasha Stagg said: "I heard a very loud bang from outside and went to investigate.
"I found that a car had smashed, at reasonable speed, into one of the pillars outside of our house.
"Two further cars had also been hit.
"A passer by and myself helped the elderly driver out of the car as it was starting to smoke. He was suffering from severe shock but unhurt."
Medics rushed over from Salisbury Medical Practice and one person was taken to Salisbury District Hospital.
Motorists experienced heavy traffic until the incident was cleared up, around 2.20pm.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said: “We were called at 12.14pm on Friday, September 13, to a road traffic collision in Salisbury.
"We sent a double-crewed land ambulance to the scene and conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Salisbury District Hospital.”
Wiltshire Police was contacted for more information.
