A local club raised nearly £20,000 for local charities, groups and organisations, following a very successful bank holiday.
Months in the making, the Verwood Rotary Club’s Rustic Fayre, which occurred on Bank Holiday Monday, took £19,000.
Harry Redknapp and Mayor Reverend Julian Macro opened the fayre, with Harry arriving in the arena in style to greet the large crowd who had gathered to see him.
Verwood Rotary Club President Louisa Hiscock said: “This year was the club’s 30th year of organising the fayre and club members were delighted by its success.
“After months of planning, it was great to see everyone enjoying the day and to raise a record amount that all goes back into the community."
The club says it now has ‘the enjoyable task’ of dividing up the money to be given to organisations across the local community.
The event, which hopes to be back next year, had many highlights, such as the Liberty Raptor Centre’s birds of prey and the Tank Taiko Drum Band.
