A PRIVATE school is kicking off its 50th birthday celebrations with a weekend of activities that are open to all.
The weekend celebrations will take place over the weekend of September 14 and 15 at Ringwood Waldorf School grounds in Folly Farm Lane, just outside of Ringwood.
Activities confirmed on Saturday include The Big Sing (anyone can join in!) and workshops organised by the school’s teachers to include crafts, art, eurythmy (a form of dance and movement practised at the school), modelling, storytelling and circus skills.
There will be a delicious, shared lunch and supper for those attending and plenty of opportunities to catch up with friends old and new – and those new to the school and interested in finding out more about the school’s unique history and its future vision, are very welcome.
On the Saturday evening, festivities will include music, stories and memories from the last 50 years, shared together in the school hall, celebrating the past, present and future of the school.
On the Sunday morning from 10am-1pm, there will be a communal walk from Ringwood Waldorf School to Moors Valley, led by current teaching staff through the local area.
Everyone is welcome to join the walkers! Sunday afternoon brings an opportunity for families to enjoy a little folk dancing to a live parents’ band and delicious tea and cake back at the school.
Geli Patrick, school lead and chair of the senior management team at Ringwood Waldorf School, said: “We are so excited to be celebrating the school’s 50th birthday. This weekend will be a true community event to which everyone is warmly invited.
"Our school has literally been built from the ground up by parents and our school community over the past five decades. And we have ambitious plans for the next few years with further developing the school, with more buildings to accommodate future additional pupils wanting to join the school.
“We would like to invite everyone to help us celebrate – whether you have a connection to the school already or are wondering what our school is about.
"This event is the start of a series of events planned for a year of celebration. Come and join us at this September event or - at one of the future dates – we’d love to have you join in with our community spirit.”

Parking is limited at the school and no dogs, except assistance dogs are allowed on site.
