Whilst I was pleased to read your article 'Four arrested for hare coursing' (SJ p3 22/08/24), it does seem that the Rural Crime team are not targeting all wildlife crime.
The hunting Act 2004 (enforced in 2005) needs strengthening so that all hunting with dogs is seen as a wildlife crime. Fox hunting still continues under the guise of 'trail' hunting in many cases.
I look forward to the same scrutiny of the local hunts, by the rural crime teams, and the public, to ensure that they are not out killing.
Until hunts change to being clean boot hunts, where runners, instead of animals, are used as quarry, all hunts should be under suspicion of law breaking.
