A MAN who was caught using his phone while his car was running has been banned from driving.
Richard Winters, 41, used a handheld device while he drove along the M3 southbound at junction 8 in Basingstoke on November 1, 2023.
Police ran a check on Winters and found that he had been driving without a valid licence or insurance.
Winters, of Downside Road, Netheravon, was proved guilty of the three offences through a single justice procedure at Aldershot Justice Centre on June 12.
Magistrates disqualified Winters from driving for six months and endorsed his licence with six penalty points on Monday, August 19.
Winters was also ordered to pay a £220 for using his mobile phone, a £660 fine for driving without insurance in addition to £110 court costs and a £352 surcharge to fund victim services.
This brought Winters' total amount owed to £1,342 and he must pay it in full before September 16.
