I read many letters comment's/criticism surrounding the cancellation of the tunnel and as a local resident since 1985 wonder how the people in support of it's being built can justify the enormous expense when there are so many more areas who could benefit from the money saved immediately.

Yes it is frustrating from time to time to get around but nothing that a bit of forward planning wouldn’t help alleviate.

A simple strategy of dualling the current road past the Stones linking to a Winterborne Stoke By Pass, also dualled, off the junction with the A360.

This should be built before the dualling the section past the Stones and would remove most of the traffic currently plaguing Shrewton, Winterborne Stoke, Berwick St James, Stapleford & Stoford

It would also reduce the current temptation to leave the A303 at its junction with the A36 at Wylye to journey down through Stapleford to Stoford and then proceeding up Stoford Bottom to  join the A360 or continue down Church Bottom to the Woodford Valley.

These two sections are very narrow and littered with potholes and only capable of dealing with light local traffic and the occasional farming vehicle.
