PART of a road near Salisbury has been closed for emergency sewerage work.

A section of the B3089 in Teffont was closed on Friday, August 16, so that Wessex Water could improve the sewer network and prevent flooding.

The Street between Teffont Magna and Teffont Evias will be closed for around two weeks while company installs a new pumping station.

Drivers are advised to follow the diversion signposted with a solid circle, with access maintained for residents and businesses.

A Wessex Water spokesperson said: “Following talks with Wiltshire Council, the decision was made to start work immediately under an emergency notice so we didn’t affect school bus services at the start of the new term on September 2.

“The closure is necessary for the safety of road users and our workforce, as we require a large pumping system to keep our excavation dry and allow the installation of new equipment.

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused by the road closure. Our teams will be working seven days a week and extended hours to finish as quickly as possible.”
