A SCHOOL in Ringwood has requested a pedestrian crossing is installed nearby following ‘safety concerns’.

The Ringwood Waldorf School, off Folly Farm Lane, want a crossing to be installed along the nearby A31 exit slip road.

Concerns had been raised by pupils and walkers who cross the slip road near to its junction with Verwood Road.

The proposal was addressed by St Leonards and St Ives Parish Council at the last full council meeting.

Members discussed the benefits of installing a crossing but expressed concern over a bend in the road at that location.

They supported the request but asked that adequate signage is installed to make drivers aware of the crossing.

It was agreed parish clerk Jonathan Ross would raise a request for a pedestrian crossing with Dorset Council.

Ringwood Waldorf School is a co-educational independent school for pupils aged three to 18.

It educates its pupils according to the pedagogical principles of Rudolf Steiner.
