THIS week is afternoon tea week, and what better way to spend a British summer than enjoying an afternoon tea in the historic city of Salisbury.

  • The Red Lion, Milford Street

The Red Lion offers an afternoon tea in their 800 year old oak-beamed lounge, or if the weather is good, under one of the oldest Virginia creeper vines in the world in their courtyard.

It offers a traditional afternoon tea (£18.95 per adult, £11.50 for under 10s), prosecco afternoon tea (£28.95pp), as well as vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

  • Rifleman's Table, The Close

The Rifleman's Table offers an afternoon tea for two for £27.50. The café has an indoor and outdoor seating areas, with picturesque views of the close-by cathedral.

  • Origins Restaurant and Pâtisserie Café, Wilton House Garden Centre

Origins offer a "quintessentially British experience" in the form of their afternoon tea, served daily between 1pm - 4pm. prices can vary, but are listed on the website as £20.95 for an adult afternoon tea.

  • Vita Skin Spa, St Ann Street

Why not enjoy an afternoon tea during a visit for a treatment at the spa? At £16.95pp, it can be ordered for one person, two people or a larger group.

  • Pantry Barn Cafe, Fordingbridge

The family run cafe in the courtyard at Breamore Estate offer teas, coffees, cakes, breakfast, lunch, a bar and afternoon tea. Contact them for more information.

  • The George, Amesbury

The 16th century inn offers classic and sparkling afternoon teas, as well as a children's afternoon tea. Pre-booking is essential.

  • Milford Hall Hotel, Castle Street

Milford Hall offer a cream tea (£7pp), high tea (£16pp), "gentleman's" tea (£35) and a classic afternoon tea (£20pp).
