Thousands has been raised for Salisbury Foodbank thanks to support from Salisbury Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Club.

In 2022, newly elected captain Ben Collins, chose Salisbury Foodbank as his nominated charity. His successor Bob Law, decided to continue this support.

During their tenures, more than £24,000 was raised for the Foodbank.

Manager at Salisbury Foodbank Maria Stevenson said: “The support from Ben, Bob their families and all the golf players involved in generating the £24,000 has been above par.

"Throughout the two years, various events, fundraisers and a couple of end of term captaincy parties, it really has felt like an extension of our foodbank family.  The benefit to the foodbank extends beyond the £24,000, it’s brought our charity and message to a new audience.

"Recent studies have suggested the average Brit is only two and a half paydays away from hunger or homelessness. Ben and Bobs foodbank legacy has ensured thousands of local people have not faced hunger in Salisbury and the surrounding areas.  What an ace pair!"

Chair of trustees Chas Kimber said: “We are tremendously grateful to Ben & Bob, and all the members of the Club who contributed to this magnificent total. Our main source of income is donations and legacies from the good people of Salisbury and it’s surrounding area.

"Without their ongoing support we would not be able to continue the work we do."
