SPARKS flew from an electrical box prompting a power cut and firefighters to step in.
Two crews from Dorset fire service were called to a farm off the A31 Ringwood Road through West Moors on Thursday afternoon, August 8.
The electrical box was briefly cordoned off while SSE sent some of its engineers to fix the power cut that affected 10 postcodes.
Power has been down for some residents in the West Moors and Ferndown area since 1pm.
A spokeswoman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews from Redhill Park and Ringwood were called to Ringwood Road, West Moors at 12.57pm this afternoon following reports of a sparking electrical box.
“Firefighters cordoned off the area and whilst awaiting the arrival of the electricity board. Just one crew remains in attendance as SSE work to isolate the box.”
SSE added around 24 of its customers have been affected by the unplanned outage.
The firm added: “We’re aware of a fault on our local network affecting several homes. This means that you and some of your neighbours will be affected by the power cut, but not all – this is why you may notice some of your neighbours have power when you do not.
“It's not uncommon to see one in three homes affected.”
