A SENIOR Wiltshire police officer has said that rioters will face “robust action” from officers.
This comes following outbreaks of violence across the country after a fatal stabbing in Southport on Monday, July 29.
A list of protests set to take place across the country has been shared on social media site Telegram, with police officers preparing to deal with more than 100 protests across the UK.
Chief Superintendent Phil Staynings said: “We are aware that there are a very limited number of social media posts which are causing some understandable concern in our communities.
"Wiltshire Police will continue to monitor and provide reassurance with a high visibility policing footprint across key locations in the County.
"Currently we have not seen any tension or disruption in Swindon or Wiltshire and we are continuing to engage and reassure our communities. This of course is being kept under constant review.

"Wiltshire Police does have contingency plans in place and anyone identified as engaging in disorder will be met with the full Force of the law. We will not hesitate to take robust action against a small minority who are intent on being involved in criminal activity."
As previously reported, the riots first started in Southport last Tuesday (July 30) after three children were killed in a knife attack while attending a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.
“Policing is part of every community and we are committed to keeping you safe - we will not tolerate any attempts at division," said Deputy Chief Constable Craig Dibdin.
“Whilst we have not seen the level of criminality other areas of the country have endured, we have a series of dynamic policing plans in place which means we can respond proportionality to any incident within our communities.
“We will facilitate peaceful and lawful protest, but, let me be clear, we will not tolerate any disorder or behaviour which negatively affects the safety of our communities.”
