MARKET Place was brought to life to mark the mayor's birthday and raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Councillor Sven Hocking, Mayor of Salisbury, celebrated his birthday with a family fun day on Sunday, July 28.
The free 'Big Birthday Bash' saw fairground rides, food stalls, entertainment and live music acts come together in aid of Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
As part of the day's celebrations, Cllr Hocking took to the stocks and members of the public, including MP John Glen, took turns throwing wet sponges at him.
“Wow, what a day, sunshine, food, beer, music and entertainment all with a fabulous turnout from the citizens of the city," said Cllr Hocking.
"Not sure that I’ll be getting the stocks out for a “sponging” anytime soon as for what seemed the only day in ages when it hasn’t rained, I ended up soaking wet, three times!"
Donations collected on the day are being collected by the Wiltshire Air Ambulance charity and Cllr Hocking will publish the total when this process has finished.
Cllr Hocking expressed his "sincere and immense" gratitude to a number of people and organisations who made the Big Bash fundraiser possible.

He said: "Firstly, D & N Constriction, Wessex Care, Chemring Countermeasures, Nationwide Engineering, Michael Wade, Tribbeck’s Jewellers and Hendersons Artisan Bakery for their very generous financial support.
"Secondly, Salisbury City Council who helped me and my brilliant fundraising team with the general administration and some logistical support on the day.
"Thirdly, the traders, vendors and exhibitors who all took a stand, the Chief Whiffler and his crew of volunteers who brought along the Salisbury Giant and Hob-Nob, Salisbury Live who organised the stage, music and to the bands that came and entertained, Salisbury Police and Fire who joined us in the morning with literally 24 hours notice and Venture Security who provided overwatch until close of play.
"Finally, from a Salisbury lad to the residents and their families of the City, our City, who turned out to support in their numbers, on a proper summer day and who made the “Bash” a truly amazing and unforgettable experience, my heartfelt thanks to you all.”
