A MAN has been ordered to pay eight times the price of a train ticket which he refused to buy.
Elliot Pennells, of Wilton Road, travelled on a First MTR South Western Trains service at Salisbury station on February 20.
The 19-year-old tried to avoid paying for the £68.50 ticket.
Pennells was proven guilty of traveling on a railway without paying a fare in his absence at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, July 17.
Magistrates fined him £220 and ordered for further court costs of £180 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £88.
Pennells must also pay £68.50 compensation to South Western Railway, bringing his total bill to £556.50.
