A MUM has been awarded a getaway stay in Devon for her stand-out look at the Salisbury Races Ladies' Evening.
Beverley Burt, 56, was the winner of the best dressed lady at the Salisbury Races Ladies’ Evening.
Salisbury racecourse, with over 300 years of history, is one of the oldest but most active racing facilities in the country, with 15 race meets happening between May and October every year. Since the mid-16th century, many well-known horses and jockeys have achieved a number of victories with many records being broken in the racecourse.
The Ladies’ Evening was introduced 21 years ago and has become a highlight of the social calendar, with seven races taking place throughout the afternoon. Attendees are also offered the chance to win a range of prizes for style, from cinema tickets and flowers to spa experiences and hotel vouchers.
The event started at 3.30pm on Saturday, July 13, and ran until 10.30pm. There were races taking place on the course from 5.05pm until 8.15pm as well as cocktail bars, food trailers and live music after the races until the end of the day.

Mrs Burt used to be a regular attendee at the races but had not been for a while, until this year when she attended with her husband and a large group of their friends. They went to celebrate one of her friend’s 70th birthday and spent the whole afternoon and evening there.
The outfit that Mrs Burt wore was bought for her son’s wedding in July last year and it was her second time ever wearing it. Her dress was from Phase 8, her accessories from White Stuff, and her hair was done by her friend, Tracy.

It was a real surprise for her as she said it was something she would never think of putting herself forward for. She said: “I just can’t believe it” and went on to say they would spend the rest of the evening celebrating both the birthday and the award.
Throughout the day and evening, the judges of the competition spotted and picked out 10 people who had the best outfits. The results were then announced at half past seven once all the candidates were on the podium.
There were five style awards: best-dressed lady, best-dressed man, runners-up for both, and overall best-dressed. Mrs Burt’s prize for best-dressed lady included two nights away at the Staunton Sands Hotel in Devon, flowers, and a hamper from Bradbeers in Salisbury.
