AN "unforgettable" community event returned to Amesbury for its fourth year.

The Amesbury Super Fete brought families together for a day of entertainment, food and fun at the QinetiQ Sports Complex on July 6 and 7.

It was organised by volunteers from The Amesbury Carnival Association and supported by The Stonehenge Chamber of Trade.

Saturday's festivities kicked off with a free live music festival featuring 80’s tribute band Total Recall, Only Olly (an Olly Murs tribute) and local celebrities Deploy DJ’s, along with a bar, food, and Stokes funfair.

Sunday featured an action-packed day of live entertainment, including a high-octane stunt show complete with fire stunts, 4x4 and MotoX bike displays from the MSI stunt show, a parkour and bike show from Savage Skills, and falconry displays from the Two Bird Experience.

Local DJ Paul Alex provided entertainment throughout the day on stage for young persons, culminating in a performance from Amesbury Community Soul Singers.

President of the Amesbury Carnival Association Phil Monk said: "The event was a resounding success, and plans are already in place for next year's annual community event. I'd like to take the opportunity to thank our everyone who supported the event, including our sponsors and the DIO, without whose continued support we couldn't put on an event of this scale.

"Also to our stage provider Purple Man Events, who adapted perfectly to ensure the event could go ahead during the inclement weather.

"This years event saw closer collaboration between the committee Amesbury Town Council, DIO and Stonehenge Chamber - this was invaluable and we look forward to building on this for next year."

Kyle McCletchie, who chaired the Amesbury Carnival Committee this year, added: "Early feedback from this years event has indicated a renewed appetite to bring back a carnival and procession to the town and this is something we hope to have news on in the coming weeks.

"Events like this are ran by a very small team of dedicated volunteers and I’d like to personally thank all those who committed time both on the day, and in the proceeding months, to make this year's event possible.

"I hope that our upcoming calls for community support are answered, to enable us to jointly deliver the all encompassing 2025 event that the community hopes for.”
