Salisbury residents have said the new Labour government was 'inevitable'.
After 14 years of a continuous Conservative government in the UK, the Labour Party came to power after a landslide victory at the General Election on July 4.
Salisbury has maintained its status as a Conservative constituency with John Glen returning to his post as Salisbury's Member of Parliament.
The Journal spoke with Salisbury locals about their views on the new Labour government, Prime Minister Keir Starmer and John Glen's re-election as MP for Salisbury.

Katherine Hiscock, 22, and partner Sean Kennedy, 21 have recently moved to the city centre.
Katherine said: “Hopefully they fix the NHS. I’m a student midwife and at the moment, coming into the NHS in the system is quite scary – we just need it fixed. Labour might be the best people to do it.”
Alexandra Emmett, visiting from Andover with her partner Charles Emmett, said: "I am quite surprised about not feeling anxious about it yet. I am going to watch this space.
"I think it was a very difficult situation – it was inevitable the labour government would get in."
Charles added: "It’s what they do, not what they represent. We’ve heard very little from the unions yet. They were quiet during the campaign."
Sue Dawkins, 67, said: “He (John Glen) seems nice enough – it’s not his fault he’s Conservative, I have never voted Conservative in my life and never will.”
Iris, 91, from Shaftesbury said: "I’ve not had time to take it all in. I do think it’s wrong with capital gains tax and also inheritance tax, I’ve saved all my life to leave something to my children and now it’s going to take it away.
"I think the Conservative party did a lot of good things and I don’t think the good things are talked about, they got us through COVID and various things.
"Why can’t we have the best of everybody and cut politics?"
A male member of the public, who did not want to be identified, added: "Labour government – don’t you mean libel government? Bring back Maggie!"
