The Salisbury Group of Artists (SGA) is set to dazzle visitors with their annual Summer Exhibition at Salisbury's Central Library's Gallery 4.

The exhibition will run from August 3 through to the 30th of 2024.

The event will showcase more than 120 original pieces from the group's more than 200 members.

SGA has been an active part of the art scene since the 1940s.

Its members hail from Salisbury and surrounding areas.

They come from a range of backgrounds from professional artists and teachers, to hobbyists and newcomers exploring their creative spark.

The exhibition will again feature a "Wall of Smalls."

This section was introduced in the last year's exhibition and proved to be a hit.

The wall consists of smaller artwork pieces priced competitively, making original art pieces more accessible to a wider audience.

Exhibition curator Annie George has invited the public to a "Meet the Artist" event on August 3 between 2pm and 4pm.

She said: "Please make a diary note to come and see the exhibition on its opening afternoon, and meet some of the artists who have contributed work.

"There are some eye-catching ceramic and sculptural pieces this year, and great pictures from popular local artists across different styles and in different media."

Expressing the Group's enthusiasm, Martin Webster, chair of the Salisbury Group of Artists, said: "We are keen to share the enjoyment we all have in being creative: this exhibition provides an opportunity to find out more about us and our activities, as well as a chance to celebrate some outstanding work by our members."

SGA activities go beyond the annual summer exhibition and include weekly painting sessions, several opportunities to exhibit and sell artwork, and regular art workshops with professional artists.

The group also provides a social outlet, the 'Salisbury Sketchers', who sketch together every month around Salisbury in the warmer months.

For those interested in the activities of the group outside of the Summer Exhibition, more information can be found on their website www.salisburygroupofartists.co.uk.

The Summer Exhibition will run during library opening hours and access is free and fully accessible via a lift or stairs near the library's front entrance.
