A full-day event will celebrate the achievements of a partnership scheme's projects across the Cranborne Chase National Landscape.

The Chase & Chalke Landscape Partnership Scheme, which has completed twenty projects since 2020, will be toasted at Larmer Tree Gardens on July 24.

Local communities, heritage and the environment have benefitted from the scheme, which was funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Families looking for an educational day out, archaeology and nature buffs, and fans of the arts are all catered to by the Larmer Tree Gardens event.

Interactive nature activities, talks on local archaeology, live in-character performances that bring historical figures to life, guided walks and experiences including butterfly and bat walks, and music and exhibitions on Roman Britain will all take place.

The results of the Chase & Chalke projects, which were managed and delivered by partners, community members, volunteers and colleagues, will also be showcased.

Food and drink will be available from Dorset Lamb, Dorset Pizza Kitchen and Larmer Tree Cafe, as well as ice creams from Joanna's Gelato.

Attendees can also bring their own picnic to enjoy in the environs of Larmer Tree Gardens, first created by General Pitt Rivers as a Victorian pleasure ground in 1880.

Linda Nunn, director of Cranborne Chase National Landscape, said: "The National Landscape Partnership is indebted to all the volunteers who offered their time and passion to the myriad of projects over the last five years.

"It also offers its thanks to the thousands of people who attended events, undertook training or simply discovered more about this stunning landscape."

Robert Lloyd, Chase & Chalke landscape partnership scheme manager, said: "The Landscape Partnership project has worked on twenty exciting projects to protect and enhance the special landscape of Cranborne Chase and the Chalke Valley, celebrating the natural environment, historic landscape and cultural heritage.

"Over 600 volunteers have signed up and helped make the Scheme a success and our legacy will be to ensure the momentum continues after the end of September.

"The event in July will be an opportunity to celebrate the successes with all that have been involved with the project and to make connections to take things forward into the future."

The event runs from 10am until 8.30pm.
