A 101-year-old celebrated her birthday at a care home last week.

Milford House Care Home in Salisbury is always keen to host a party and celebrates with every resident who has a birthday, but recently the team at the home were delighted to be able to arrange a party to celebrate Gwen’s 101st birthday.

With party invitations having gone out there was a special tea in the home’s wonderful front lounge where Gwen celebrated with friends and fellow residents.

With the tea table laid out with a colourful rainbow theme, bouquets of flowers, a delicious cake and refreshments made by head chef Becky and the team, some pink fizz for the toast and lots of good wishes including a special ‘Happy Birthday’ chorus it was a thoroughly festive afternoon for a very special lady.

The care home's general manager Aga Musial said: "Every birthday is special but we were so honoured to have shared this amazing day with Gwen.

"A 101st birthday is something out of the ordinary and we were thrilled to have played a small part in making the day memorable for Gwen and ensuring that she felt that she was queen for a day.

"At Milford House there is nothing we like more than working with family and friends to help create special celebrations whatever the occasion."
