An independent school in Salisbury has announced that they will be extending their provision to take children up to GCSE.
Chafyn Grove School, situated on Bourne Road, was founded in 1879. It is a leading prep school, currently serving boys and girls between the ages of 3 - 13.
The school is both a day and boarding school, and from 2026, their first year 9 class will open - with years 10 and 11 to open in the following academic years.
The purpose of extending the age range of the school to 16 is to provide an additional opportunity to current and new families.

Headmaster of Chafyn Grove Mr Simon Head said: “Chafyn Grove is expanding its provision to GCSE. We already offer a first class, all-round education to boys and girls from the ages of 3 to 13 and feel that now is the right time to extend that provision through to 16.
“Year 9 will open in September 2026, with Years 10 and 11 following over the next two years.”
“Chafyn Grove’s distinctive strengths of pastoral excellence, academic success and unrivalled opportunity in Sport, the Arts and the wider curriculum – including boarding options - will extend all the way through, providing a springboard to Sixth forms throughout Salisbury and its environs.”
Over the coming years, Chafyn will further develop to ensure they are offering the best educational experiences for all their pupils and to facilitate their expansion to GCSE.
The existing site and facilities already provide age-appropriate spaces that will enable pupil progression and growth as they get older. Additional facilities and areas will be developed as required over the years ahead.
A range of GCSE subjects will be available and Chafyn will be increasing the variety and number of learning opportunities and extra-curricular activities to complement the curriculum.
All of the existing staff with senior school qualifications and experience will be joined by new teachers who will bring further GCSE knowledge and skill to Chafyn.
Chafyn Grove encourages all families who would like to find out more about their move to offer GCSE’s or who are interested in their child joining for senior school to contact the school to arrange a discussion with the headmaster.
