A sixth form college in Salisbury is celebrating 10 years of providing "outstanding education and community engagement".

Salisbury Sixth Form College (S6C) first opened on September 1, 2014, offering high-quality post-16 education in Salisbury.

The college, located on Tollgate Road, say they have fulfilled that mission, keeping hundreds of students within the city while providing them with "exceptional" educational opportunities.

In their latest Ofsted inspection in September 2022, the college was rated "good".

Since opening its doors with an initial cohort of 76 students, S6C has continued to grow. This year, the college welcomed 220 students into Year 12, with projections indicating a possible 250 new entrants for the upcoming academic year.

Headteacher Ben Hillier said: "We are thrilled to mark this milestone and reflect on our achievements.

"Our success is a testament to the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our students, and the support of our community. I am incredibly proud to be part of an organisation that consistently goes above and beyond to ensure the best for its students."

The college’s journey began in a rented space at Wiltshire College, and today, S6C boasts a state-of-the-art facility.

Over the past decade, the college has become part of the Magna Learning Partnership, while retaining its unique identity and commitment to excellence.

A spokesperson from S6C said: "We are immensely proud of the warm and welcoming atmosphere that visitors frequently commend. Our ethos, encapsulated in the phrase "it’s all about you," is not just a slogan but a guiding principle that influences everything we do.

"At S6C, we genuinely prioritise our students' needs and development, creating an environment where they can thrive.

"As we look to the future, S6C remains committed to providing an exceptional educational experience and continuing to grow as a cornerstone of the Salisbury community."

S6C is the only 16-19 specialist college for Level 3 and accelerated courses in Salisbury, offering a range of A-level, vocational and technical courses for 16 - 19 year olds. For more information, visit their website.
