A holidaymaker has revealed his ingenious hack which helped him dodge EasyJet’s “ridiculous” excess baggage fines.
Dylan Springer says he was boarding his flight home from Kos, Greece, on April 12 when he noticed passengers being slapped with £48 fines for carrying an extra tote bag.
The quick-thinking 23-year-old says he emptied his bag and stuffed his Birkenstock sandals under his socks, two books in his trouser pockets and a portable charger in his hoodie.
His viral TikTok video shows him smirking as he pulls the extra items and snacks from under his clothes and stuffs them back into his tote bag before boarding the flight.
Despite being “nervous” that staff would notice the items sticking out, Dylan says he managed to escape the 'embarrassing' ordeal without being charged.
Dylan insists he snuck the extra bag under his jumper for the outbound flight from London Gatwick Airport but there were stricter checks on the return journey.
His video has been viewed more than 30,000 times with users praising him as a 'genius'.
EasyJet say cabin bags can be added to flights from £5.99 and their website warns of a £48 fine for any non-purchased bag brought to the airport's departure gate.
Dylan, from Leeds, West Yorkshire, said: "I know sometimes with budget airlines you can sneakily bring a tote bag through.
"I thought I could try and get away with bringing extra but then I saw staff putting bags into the boxes and knew I needed to make some amendments.
"I put my Birkenstock sandals in my socks and my jeans over the top. I put two books in each of the little side pockets I had on my legs which somehow perfectly fit in there.
"Then I had some snacks which I just put inside one of my pockets and I had a portable charger inside my hood. I tied a shirt around my waist too.
"Luckily, the trousers I wore were perfect.
"I was nervous and as soon as I walked up to them I thought 'I hope they're not staring at my legs and can see everything puffing out'.
"They didn't even check the bag I was holding, I just walked straight through.
"People were getting fined for the extra bags and the fines for the tiniest extra allowance are mad. It's so weird. It's ridiculous.
"When I was through the baggage bit I realised I could take everything off so I thought it would be a funny thing to record myself just whipping out all these clothes.
"Lots of people stared at me but I could tell some were thinking 'that's clever' and 'fair enough, I would've done the same'.
"If I can manage to fit all my stuff in the carry-on bag in future then that's fine but if not, I'll have my tote bag at the ready.
"If they start doing bag checks again, I guess things are going in the socks and in my pockets."
Dylan, who had been on a four-day trip to Greece, is holidaying in Malta in August and insists he'll be using the same hack again.
His video is captioned 'EasyJet, man, stop with the bag checks this is embarrassing' and has more than 500 likes and comments praising Dylan's brazen stunt.

An EasyJet spokesperson said: "EasyJet's under seat bag is one of the biggest in the industry and all passengers can take one onboard for free and large cabin bags can be booked from just £5.99."
