A new village hall was unveiled in Boscombe on June 1, devoted to Allington and Boscombe's communities.

The Brunton Memorial Hall is named after Michael Brunton, who served 14 years as the Parish Council's chairman, and is a testament to the fundraising efforts of SABRA, the Environment Committee, Community First, and the Community Partnership Committee.

Each campaign was invigorated by Vicar Peter Ostli-East's endorsement.

Brunton had once wished these villages would have a central point.

This turned into a reality when the Paterson family sold their Boscombe property to NERO Developments Ltd.

The agreement included a stipulation that Annington Homes, the chosen developers, construct the village hall.

With confirmed plans, the Community Partnership amplified fundraising through events like Band Nights, Fetes, Bonfire Parties, and Christmas Celebrations at Allington's St John The Baptist Church.

Annington Homes transferred the hall to the Parish Council in April 2024. The hall, featuring a main room, kitchen, outdoor grassed area, and car park, is now managed by Hall Trustees.

Brunton passed away in 2021, prior to the completion of the village hall. Even though he visited the half-done project, he never witnessed its completion.

The Parish Council and Committee members unanimously decided to commemorate Brunton by christening the hall with his name.

His eldest son, Dan Brunton, and wife, Fiona Brunton, performed the official opening duties on June 1.

The Brunton Memorial Hall is a dynamic resource for the community, hosting groups, events, clubs, classes, societies, and private gatherings.
