Two television stars spoke at the Cathedral to honour the late Queen, HM Elizabeth II. 

On Thursday, May 30, The Sir Edward Heath Charitable Foundation announced Gyles Brandreth as Honorary Chair.

Over the years, the TV presenter and former MP has acted as compere for several public events on behalf of The Foundation. 

Brandreth moderated The Sir Edward Heath Annual Lecture which took part at Salisbury Cathedral later the same day.

This year’s lecture will honour the life of our late Queen, HM Elizabeth II, featuring a line-up of world-class speakers to discuss a 70-year reign.

On the panel was Angela Rippon, a renowned broadcaster who has covered royal events for half a century.

Ailsa Anderson who served as press secretary to the Queen for twelve years from 2001 to 2013 also spoke at the panel. 

She was joined by Daily Mail writer and author, Robert Hardman, and Hugo Vickers, a royal commentator and author of ‘Coronation’ and ‘Elizabeth: The Queen Mother’.

The panel was also joined by television and radio journalist and broadcaster John Sargent. 

The speakers gave their personal appreciation of the Queen, both as an individual and as our national leader, and assessed the challenges, achievements and legacy of her reign.

 

The Sir Edward Heath Charitable Foundation owns ‘Arundells’, the beautiful house and garden where Sir Edward lived from 1985 to 2005. Over the last twelve years, Arundells has received over 100,000 visitors and has become a popular tourist destination in Salisbury’s charming Cathedral Close.
