CONCERNS have been raised for a driver who flipped their car, crashed into a tree and fled the scene.
A red Mini Cooper left the A303 some time between 7am and 7.30am this morning, May 28.
The driver veered off the westbound Tisbury junction near Chicklade they flipped the car and hit a tree.
When police officers arrived at the scene, the driver had vanished and concerns are growing for their welfare.
PC Daniel Laurie, from Wiltshire Police's Roads Policing Unit, said: "This collision caused significant damage and we have concerns about the drivers welfare, who was not at the scene when we arrived.
"From the damage to the vehicle we are concerned that they will need medical attention.
"We have made a number of enquiries including checks with local hospitals and would urge anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible."
The fire service also attended, a spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to the A303 at Chilmark at 7.34am this morning (28 May) after a car was seen on its roof in a ditch.
"Three crews attended, from Mere, Wilton and Amesbury; no-one was trapped in the vehicle so firefighters made the scene safe and our stop was at 8.20am."
