Bishop Wordsworth’s School (BWS) has announced that they will once again be hosting an election hustings.

This comes after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced last week that the general election is to take place on Thursday, July 4.

The hustings will take place on Tuesday, June 25 at BWS, and all six of Salisbury's candidates will be in attendance.

The candidates for Salisbury are: John Glen (Conservative) Matt Aldridge (Labour) Victoria Charleston (Liberal Democrats) Barney Norris (Green Party) Julian Malins (Reform) and King Arthur Pendragon (Independent).

The event is open to all members of the public and will give the audience an opportunity to ask the candidates questions.

Caleb Richter from BWS Politics Society, who will be voting for the first time, said: “I’m looking forward to being able to vote – I’m quite excited about it.

“I think it’s important people know who they are voting for because a lot of people vote by party but you’re also voting for the person who will be your local representative - so it’s good for people to see and hear from their options.”

There will be no parking except for blue badge holders, and refreshments will be available at the event.

There’s no need to book, but BWS ask that you fill out this form so they can have an idea of numbers, although you can turn up on the day.

The event is expected to begin at 7.30pm, but this is to be confirmed.
