Fordingbridge’s award-winning community shop, The Green Gram, is holding a volunteer recruitment event on Wednesday, June 19 2024 from 6pm -7.30pm.
The Green Gram is a community-led refill shop, stocking household items from washing up liquid to tea and coffee, aiming to make people less dependent on single-use products.
Due to its expansion and continued growth, it is inviting anyone who may be interested in volunteering with the shop to come and find out more information and see how its volunteers are the lifeblood of the successful community business.
At the event, attendees will learn about how the shop has developed and its journey to date, about the different roles on offer as well as how the shifts are organised. There will be volunteers on hand to help show attendees around and answer any questions so they can decide if they would like to join the team.

Wendy Reid, Outreach Co-ordinator, says: “We’ve had a really busy start to the year and have some exciting plans on the horizon. This means we are looking for more volunteers to help with extra shifts and holiday cover. We’d love to see you on June 19.
“Come and find out more about The Green Gram and the ways you can help us run this amazing shop that benefits our community and our world.”
Since opening in May 2022, The Green Gram has been offering refills of foods, cleaning products and toiletries. Its customers have prevented over 1,076kg of plastic waste, equivalent to nearly 48,000 containers. In April alone, 75kg of plastic waste has been prevented, equivalent to 3,390 containers.
The event will start at 6pm and finish at approximately 7.30pm. The Green Gram ask that you reserve a space to the event here.
