Stonehenge Visitor Centre will host a unique building event over May half term, as English Heritage invites children and adults to grab hammers, saws, nails and wood and construct "Playhenge" – a temporary adventure playground.

Real tools will be safely used by children and their adults to build the play structure of their dreams using natural materials. Children of all ages will have the opportunity to design and build their own “Playhenge,” fostering imagination and teamwork.

English Heritage are working with Woodland Tribe - the UK masters of constructive play - helping children and families work together and create, just as the builders of Stonehenge did 5000 years ago, an ever-evolving, extraordinary and imaginative structure and space.

Julia Richardson, operations manager at Stonehenge said: "Playhenge is a one-of-a-kind experience that allows our visitors to connect with the spirit of creativity and collaboration that has inspired people for millennia.

“By providing tools and materials for DIY play this half term, we aim to offer a contemporary twist on the timeless wonder of Stonehenge, inviting families to build, play, and create totally unique memories together."

Inspired by the spirit of collaboration and innovation that may have guided the original builders of Stonehenge, Playhenge offers a hands-on experience that bridges the gap between ancient and modern-day construction and play.

Playhenge is suitable for ages four and over. Children must be accompanied by an adult (minimum of one accompanying adult per three children).

Playhenge is an immersive, fun activity lasting approximately 50 minutes. Stonehenge staff as that you arrive 15 minutes ahead of your chosen timeslot.
