POLICE have seized several puppies suspected to be a banned breed and arrested a man for dangerous dog offences in Ringwood.

A 42-year-old man has been arrested by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary for dangerous dog offences with nine puppies and two dogs seized suspected to be a banned breed on Parsonage Lane, Ringwood, at 11am on May 7.

Police investigated the property after reports of an XL bully that was said to have attacked two other dogs and said to be 'out of control'.

One of the dogs seized was believed to be an XL bully.

A spokesperson for Ringwood Police said: "There was a report of an XL bully that was attacking other dogs and was dangerously out of control. Your local Ringwood officers were first on scene and quickly managed to get control of the dog and owner before anyone was injured.

"A 42-year-old male from Ringwood was arrested for dangerous dog offences. It was also ascertained that there may be other animals in his address so a search was authorised and conducted.

"Several puppies were found and seized as well as another adult dog which was suspected to be a banned breed. They were all in a clear state of neglect.

"The puppies along with their mother are now living their best life in some lovely kennels organised by Ringwood police."
