GAS WORKS that have been five months in the making have been delayed by two weeks in Three Legged Cross.
Verwood Road was supposed to reopen to motorists this week but unforeseen circumstances have caused the completion of the works to be delayed by two weeks.
The roadworks began on November 24 2023 for utility repair and maintenance works.
Now, the proposed finishing date is May 10 to allow engineers to carry out essential gas work.
Temporary traffic lights will also remain on the road until the works are complete.
Bradley Barlow, a spokesperson for gas distribution company SGN said: “Our engineers have made excellent progress in Verwood Road, Three-Legged Cross and now have the main section of pipe in the ground.
“To enable us to complete the final connections, we require specialist equipment to transfer the live gas supply to the main that has been newly installed.
“We have been advised by the company who carry out this specialist procedure that due to unforeseen circumstances, the soonest they can complete this operation will be Monday 29 April.
“Unfortunately, this will delay the completion of our work to Friday 10 May.
“We’re sorry for this delay and any inconvenience this may cause.”
