A historic house in Salisbury will be filled with flowers this spring to celebrate the spirit of community.
Mompesson House, in the heart of Salisbury’s Cathedral Close, will be filled with floral displays created by talented Mompesson volunteers alongside local and Wiltshire-based groups and clubs.
The flowers will be available to view from Friday, April 26 until 7 May 7.
‘Mompesson in Bloom’ is part of the Festival of Blossom, supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
With a baseline of accessibility for those with special educational needs and dementia, the festival is designed to make everyone feel welcome in nature.
Jenny Grene, Visitor Experience Officer, said: "We're really looking forward to working with so many people.
"A lot of our visitors are locals, and we want them to be able to see what groups are available for them in Salisbury and Wiltshire, as well as acknowledging how much our local groups give to the community."
It's not jus the house that will be a colourful array of nature, in the garden visitors can enjoy a sea of tulips and forget-me-nots. From May, the roses and wisteria will start to bloom.
The silver pear tree is currently blossoming and there are blankets to borrow for picnics.
After visiting ‘Mompesson in Bloom’, visitors can pick up a free blossom activity trail and map from Mompesson and go on a sensory walk around Salisbury’s Cathedral Close.
The trail activities have been designed to be accommodating for those with SEND and dementia but can be enjoyed by everyone.
The Festival of Blossom runs until 4 June and there are lots of free activities and workshops at Mompesson (normal admission applies).
