Silver Salisbury, a charity that organises numerous events for older people across Salisbury and the surrounding Wiltshire countryside, has highlighted some of its most anticipated upcoming events for April and May.
They are looking for people to share their stories with primary school children in Salisbury and Amesbury.
In May, there is an information event for people living with dementia and their families.
Take a look at the further details below:
Living Well with Dementia
We are delighted to let you know about the special information event which welcomes people living with dementia and their families. It’s at Salisbury Guildhall on Tuesday, May 21, involving a number of organisations which support people living with dementia and their families. The day is geared to help people navigate the different services and groups or activities in the area which provide support for people living with dementia and their families, including a “brain dome” to experience what it might feel like to be living with dementia.
Were you a child in the forties or fifties?
Do you have memories of your childhood in the forties or fifties and are interested in sharing your stories with a group of primary school children in Amesbury or Salisbury?
Ruth Hill will be facilitating a reminiscence and preparatory session at Salisbury Library on Friday, April 19 and the Bowman Centre, Amesbury on Friday, April 26. These events are free, but it helps if you let us know you are coming. For further information and booking, email here or phone 01722 323812.
Silver Salisbury Spring Newsletter
The Silver Salisbury Spring Newsletter has been disappearing fast from Salisbury Library, Five Rivers Leisure Centre, the Information Centre and Shopmobility ever since the end of September and booking is going well for some of the special events. If you haven’t seen the newsletter and you’re aged sixty and over, it’s not too late to pick up a copy from your local library and other community venues.
The newsletter includes some regular groups and some special events which are all low or no cost. Included in the programme are, an Irish folk music concert with tea and cake at Antrobus House in Amesbury, a musical afternoon at the Quaker Meeting House in Salisbury and live jazz at the Old Sarum Community Centre. Another of our special events in Amesbury, The Builth Male Voice and Salisbury Plain Military Wives’ Choirs will be in concert at The Abbey Church of St Mary and St Melor in Amesbury. Salisbury & South Wilts Railway Society will be holding their exhibition at the Michael Herbert Hall in Wilton and a Volunteering Fair will be held at the Memorial Hall in Downton. They can all be found in the newsletter which is also featured here.
