A SUSPECTED bomb was found near Old Sarum last night.
Police officers cordoned off a layby adjacent to Castle Road, opposite the Harvester restaurant, on Wednesday evening, April 10.
A suspected munition had been found near the road and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called in.
The A345 was closed at around 5.30pm to allow for safe collection and disposal of the bomb.
The Journal understands the EOD team were there until around 10pm.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "A suspected munition was located near to the A345 Castle Road.
"The road was briefly closed to allow for it to be safely collected and disposed of by EOD."
The EOD has been approached for more information.
