The four candidates for the upcoming Wiltshire and Swindon Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) election have been confirmed.
The vote will be held on Thursday, May 2, and will determine the PCC for the next four-year term.
The PCC is responsible for overseeing the work of Wiltshire Police, holding the Chief Constable to account and commissioning key services for community safety and victim support.
The current PCC, Conservative Philip Wilkinson, is standing to be re-elected after he was chosen for the role in 2021.
He has a background of over 30 years in the army and has developed a number of international counter-terrorist programs.
Mike Rees is standing again as an independent, after he came second in the most recent PCC election.
He joined Wiltshire Police in 1984 and retired as a detective inspector in 2014.
Challenging him will be Liberal Democrat Allan Hagger, who has represented Amesbury Town Council since 2023.
He has served as Head of Strategic Commissioning for the Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight for 10 years.
Also in the running is Labour candidate Stanka Adamcova, the Vice-Chairman of Wiltshire Police and Crime Panel.
She was elected to represent Haydon Wick North in Swindon’s 2023 local election.
