A FUNDRAISER has been set up to help fund the funeral of a nine-year-old boy from Andover who died in a crash in North Dorset.

Zac Roe died on Monday, March 25 when the car he was a passenger of, a Citroen DS9, was involved in a crash with a white Ford Transit van and a DAF cattle transporter truck and trailer.

Dorset Police were called to reports of a crash on the A354 Salisbury Road at East Woodyates at 5.21pm.

Zac was pronounced dead at the scene and his family have since paid tribute, his father Josh Roe said: “Words cannot describe the pain I’m feeling, my heart is broken. You are my little angel. I love you more than anything in this world, you are my best buddy.”

Zac’s grandfather Chris Roe added: “Zac, there are just no words to find. I just want to thank you for the wonderful and fun-filled memories we shared on your short journey of your life.

“You were taken too soon, but memories will last us a lifetime. We will never stop loving you. Your smile and laughter still echoes around my and everyone’s heart. Sweet dreams our little angel.”

An online fundraiser has now been set up to help raise funds to help pay for Zac's funeral.

The GoFundMe page reads: "The unexpected death of a child is an unimaginable loss that no one could prepare for. Our friends, the Roe Family, have suffered an impossible loss with the recent untimely passing of their precious son/grandson, Zac.

"While we cannot take away their pain, we can help this loving family with the financial distress they now face. Due to the nature of Zac’s passing, the family do not wish his last journey to be by car and would like to provide him with a horse-drawn carriage to take him to his final resting place. Any additional monies would aid in the substantial cost of ongoing professional support for Zac’s surviving family."

It adds: "Please consider donating as they lay their little angel to rest and take the time to grieve and process this heart breaking tragedy. Any help is appreciated during this extremely difficult time."

The driver of the Citroen – a woman aged in her 30s from Hampshire – was arrested on suspicion of murder and has now been released without charge for that offence. She was also arrested on suspicion of a driving offence and has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Third, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts continue to remain with all those affected by the sad death of Zac Roe.

“An investigation is ongoing with detailed enquiries being carried out to establish the full circumstances of what happened.”
