A DRUG driver has been banned from driving after a 30-mile police chase.
Anthony Waters, 54, of Mansel Road West, Southampton exceeded the speed limit, drove through red lights and, at times, on the wrong side of the road was pursued by police for 30 miles from Wilton to Southampton on May 29, 2023.
Waters was arrested and following a test, was found to be over the drug drive limit and was also charged with Careless Driving, Failing to Stop and Drug Driving.
In Salisbury Crown Court, Waters was sentenced to eight months imprisonment, suspended for 12 months. He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months and is required to retake his driving test before he can get his licence back.
He must also attend 30 rehabilitation activity days and pay a £187 surcharge.
Detective Sergeant Brewster said: "Anthony Waters drove in an extremely careless manner and showed no regard for other road users.
"It was fortunate that nobody was injured or worse, killed, as a result of his selfish actions."
