THE City council's planning committee will discuss plans to redevelop the former post office and hear an update on the proposals for the Cathedral Hotel.
Both buildings are the subject of significant planning applications.
Cathedral Hotel
As previously reported, major plans for a five-star hotel development and a rooftop bar were revealed in October last year.
The hotel had closed in July 2022 after its operator Old Sarum Hotels Ltd went into administration.
The new owner and developer Brian Currie outlined his vision for his Cathedral Hotel in Milford Street. He urged support, saying: “Salisbury should not be a museum, it should be a living, breathing thing.”
The hotel is a grade II listed building and has an original staircase which runs up through the building. The intention is to add to it, and strip it back and restore it.
Former Post Office
The application site is positioned on the corner of Chipper Lane and Castle Street and comprises four separate buildings, two of which (numbers 24 and 26) are Grade II Listed.
The proposal includes the conversion of the former Post Office, number 26, and numbers 32-36 Castle Street, along with demolition and rebuilding at numbers 28-30.
The site is located within the Salisbury Conservation Area and is bounded by Qudos to the north and by the BT Telephone Exchange to the east.
The applicants add: "These buildings are boarded up and in a state of despair."

The meeting is from 6.30pm to 9pm at Salisbury Guildhall.
