A STREET in the centre of Salisbury will be closed for up to five days so that a pub can be repaired.
There will be no access to Ivy Street, which connects Brown Street with Catherine Street, from Sunday, March 3.
Work is expected to be carried out between 8am and 5pm for a maximum of five days. Motorists are advised to divert along Milford Street and down Brown Street.
Wiltshire Council said Ivy Street must be closed to all traffic "in the interests of public safety" while the Bell and Crown's exterior is repaired.
The Journal understands the work is the result of damage caused to the building by a Kingsmill lorry driver who crashed into the pub last year while trying to reverse.

Then-pub manager Robert Daley had put up barriers along the pavement to protect people from falling debris.
Mr Daley was sleeping upstairs when he felt the building shake and rushed to the window to find the stuck driver, who did not stop to leave his details, backing into the building. Part of the pub's signage fell off and the brickwork was pushed inwards.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that the driver, a man in his 40s, was reported for careless driving and has been offered (and attended) a driving course.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Council wrote in the urgent closure notice: "The closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works."
