THE A303 is expected to remain closed after a crash near Amesbury last night.
The A303 is closed eastbound between the A338, Cholderton, and A342, Andover, for emergency re-surfacing.
According to National Highways, a crash occurred at approximately 8.36pm on Wednesday, February 21, which resulted in a diesel spillage on the carriageway.
Following an assessment of the carriageway it was decided emergency re-surfacing was required.
The road will remain closed through the morning peak and is likely to remain in place until at least late morning.

National Highways are recommending the following diversion route:
- Road users are advised to follow the Hollow Circle diversion symbol on road signs:
- From the A303 eastbound, leave at the Parkhouse Cross interchange.
- Continue to the A338 Salisbury Road T junction. Turn left and join the A338.
- Continue for approximately 4 miles through South and North Tidworth.
- At the A3026 Ludgershall Road T junction, turn right and join the A3026.
- Continue for approximately 2 miles into Ludgershall.
- At the A342 T junction, continue on the A342 Andover Road.
- Continue for approximately 4 miles to a roundabout at Weyhill.
- Use the 2nd exit and continue on the A342 Weyhill Road towards Andover.
- Follow for approximately 1.5 miles to a roundabout at the A303 Hundred Acre Corner interchange.
- Use the 3rd exit to rejoin the A303 eastbound.
