THE New Forest has been named as one of the UK's best dog-walking routes by a popular pet travel company.
Canine Cottages, a company which prides itself as "expert" in dog-friendly holidays, has compiled a list of five of the best dog walking trails in the UK, and one area of the New Forest has been featured.
The company said that the "New forest offers a fantastic dog-friendly walking route. It is known as Britain's most beautiful place to live, and now as one of the best places to take your dog for a walk.
"It's natural beauty and varied landscapes is a perfect way for your pooch to roam in the fields and embrace the countryside.

"Brockenhurst in the New Forest offers numerous delightful dog-friendly walks. Along the way, you'll pass local landmarks such as Setley Plain and the South Weirs, before returning to the heart of Brockenhurst, where several inviting inns await.
"As you journey, you'll stumble upon a nature reserve, providing your dog ample opportunity for a runabout. Why not bring along snacks or a picnic, and you and your furry companion can relish a rest in this pristine natural setting?
"Since this is one of the longer routes, make sure to provide your furry friend with a satisfying leg stretch. Afterwards, they can unwind with a peaceful nap while you enjoy a pint of the local ale."
Also on the list are walks in Lincolnshire, the Cotswolds, Norfolk and Northumberland.

- Cotswolds: Cleeve Hill and Nottingham Hill circuit
- Norfolk: Holkham beach
- New Forest: Brockenhurst walk
- Northumberland: Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle
