A CANDLE light vigil was held in Salisbury calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, Israel and the West Bank.
People gathered outside Salisbury Library at dusk on Saturday, February 3, to demonstrate their opposition to the violence.
It was the ninth vigil organised by the Salisbury Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) together with Sarum Concern for Israel and Palestine and Salisbury Amnesty International.
There was a national protest in London on the same day.
A spokesperson for Salisbury CND said “With the continuing violence in the region, we need to express our opposition. There is no military solution to this awful situation and the sooner the violence on both sides is halted and talks begin, the better.
"We demand that our politicians take note of the majority opinion in this country, which does not support this war.”
Further candle light vigils in Salisbury will take place each Saturday in February between 5.15 and 5.45pm.
