A St Mark’s School teaching assistant and artist from Salisbury will be previewing her first solo exhibition at Gallery 4 above the Salisbury Library.
Megan Cheetham’s exhibition “Home, Stuff and Everything” will run from Saturday, February 10 to Thursday, February 29, presenting a mix of paintings, sketches, cardboard maquettes and photographs that encapsulate the good and bad of modern family life. The body of work has evolved to show the home as a container of many objects, some treasured – family photos and mementos - and others simply mundane – waiting clean laundry.
Megan said: "This body of work, is as much an acknowledgement of the changing use and energy within the home, as our children grow up and leave to go to university, as it is an act of record, of the chaos and memories which the house (as vessel) still holds when they are back for holidays.”
After the solo exhibition, which comes on the heels of a busy 2023 for Megan—with work in the Sou Sou West Gallery Winter open, Langford Lakes, Salisbury Art Scene exhibition, White Chalk Gallery Open exhibition and the prestigious Royal Academy Summer exhibition in London—she will take a short break before taking part in the Plain Arts Salisbury Art Trail.
